Children's author Emma Read delivered a fantastic special assembly for years 4, 5 and 6. Celebrating her new book, The House Trap, Emma talked us through her working process including inspiration, initial ideas, cover design and shared a 'spooky vs logic' activity with the audience. The children were very engaged responded brilliantly with lots of interesting questions and ideas.

~Kate Hawkesworth, school librarian, SMRP Bristol

I was lucky enough to attend Emma’s event at a local school and she was just brilliant. She had the attention of the whole room, blending talk of her characters with fascinating spider facts – it was as much fun science lesson as author talk! ... The pupils all LOVED it, with the added bonus that the book has such a broad appeal to boys and girls...her talk sparked lots of bookish and spider discussion in the classroom (and playground!). I can’t wait for her to come back for the next book. ~ Juliette Bottomley, Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights, Bath

Emma spoke about how she became an author, her writing process, the things she loves to include in her books and led a discussion with the pupils on whether they were #teamspooky or #teamlogic! ~ Year 7, Sir John Nelthorpe School, Brigg

We absolutely loved hosting you - what a treat for us and the pupils across the city ~ Hull School Library Service

The presentation to the children was really engaging with a perfect balance of interaction and information... During the question and answer session, the children were able to find out what it is like to be an author and it was great to hear Emma endorsing lots of reading which is one of the things we really try to promote in our school. During the signing session, Emma was very friendly with each child which you could tell made them feel comfortable as well as special... It was a real privilege to have Emma visit us and we would love to have her back anytime.~Herbert Morrison Primary School, Stockwell.
